CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

5.1    Conclusion

The result of this research proved that many difficulties in comprehending reading recount text of second semester Student at Broadcasting and TKJ Classes of SMK N 3 Kota Bengkulu. It can be concluded as the following:

1. Students had difficulty in finding the main and specific ideas in reading recount text. The difficulties were caused by some limited factors that involved; limited of comprehending in reading recount text and the limited of having vocabulary.
2.  The students still had difficulty of vocabularies. The lack of ability to predict the meaning of words in the reading recount text. The difficulty can be seen in Vocabulary test where some of students did not have good reading strategies such contextual method in guessing unfamiliar words.
3. Students had difficulty of grammar. The lack of students’ abilities to discriminate or choose the best answer, especially in grammatical and functional mastery. The students less comprehend in grammar of reading recount text. It was proved by the both classes which still had poor ability in reading comprehension, especially for grammar comprehension.
4. Students had difficulty in comprehending whole text. It caused they did not have enough bakground knowledge. Another reason, they can not active their background knowledge well.
5. Students had difficulty in making conclusion. It happened bacause they had short-memories about what they read. To make conclusion, students also involve their background knowledge about what they read and what they infer out.

5.2              Suggestion

From the conclusion above, it is suggested that:

1. Students should have good vocabulary and grammar in reading recount text because they can help students easier in comprehending recount text.
2. For the teachers, they should choose appropriate recount texts for the students. It is very important to know students’ background knowledge about the text.
3. For the other researchers, it is suggested to compare students difficulties in reading recount text between general and vocational school because both schools have different curriculum.
